Myths busted: National Parks consultation

The new consultation will look at ways to improve how National Parks are managed to give local people more say in how they're run.

This was published under the 2010 to 2015 Conservative and Liberal Democrat coalition government

The Myth - Farming Today reported that Defra is looking at ways to save money which could result in England’s National Parks being managed in a completely different way. This might include selling them off to generate income or privatising them, meaning that people would have to pay to use them.

The Truth -  There is no intention to sell off our National Parks. Nearly all of England’s National Parks are on privately owned land which is not even ours to sell. The new consultation, launched this week, will look at ways to improve how National Parks are managed to give local people more say in how they’re run.
